The Celebrating the People’s Voice event held at the Select Security Stadium in Widnes on 15 September was designed to give individuals registered on the People’s Voice virtual network a chance to celebrate their involvement and to provide information about the People’s Voice to those who were not yet a part of the virtual network. It was also an opportunity to learn more about the Cheshire and Merseyside Strategic Clinical Networks (CMSCNs), listen to people’s experiences of being involved and a chance to meet some of the network’s support team.

What happened?

Attendees were welcomed to the event by Jan Vaughan, Associate Director of the SCN.

Presentations during the morning were:

  • Brief Outline of Cheshire & Merseyside SCN - Jan Vaughan, CMSCN Associate Director

  • People’s Voice - Gloria Payne, CMSCN Quality Improvement Lead for Patient & Public Involvement

  • People’s Voice, past, present and future - Ray Murphy, People's Voice member

You can view and download all of the speaker's presentations here.

There were also market stalls promoting the current work of each of the SCNs and highlighting how the People's Voice has been a vital resource in influencing outcomes for patients and the public.

The stalls on the day were run by:

  • Alzheimer's Society
  • Cancer Network
  • Cardiovascular disease (CVD) Network (cardiac, diabetes, kidney, stroke)

The event was very well received, so a huge thanks to everyone who attended and presented on the day. There was a great deal of energy in the room and feedback shows that everyone learnt a great deal from the day and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
