Projects 2016-17

Work Programme Activities

Children & Young People’s Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing - Our work programme for 2016-17 has a number of activities, including:

  • Support commissioners to ensure that children and young people with an eating disorder commence treatment with NICE-approved care within clear waiting times for both urgent and routine cases Community Eating Disorder Guidance

  • Support transformation in services and improve access to effective support for CYP and their families via a system without tiers (iThrive).

  • Support schools in promoting mental health wellbeing, emotional resilience and providing early intervention support for pupils at risk and/or experiencing difficulties.

  • To support commissioners with more effective use of data to inform commissioning intentions and service transformation.

  • Support service improvements to reduce self-harm and improve pathways & access to 24/7 crisis care.

  • Enhance quality of referrals and improve the access & experience of C&YP engaged in Health Justice & T4 services across the North West Coast footprint.

  • Improve experience of Children & Young People with Leaning Disability and Autism admitted and/or at risk of being admitted to hospital.

  • Develop recommendations for a Neuro pathway building on the review of the ASD pathway in 2015-16.

  • Continue to support CAMHS service and system transformation to increase provision of high quality mental health care for children and young people, including prevention and early intervention.

  • Support the delivery of improvements in access to Children and Young People Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme.

  • Support the improvement and enhancement of mental health Liaison services for CYP

  • Supporting the implementation of the MH Five Year Forward Plan Five Year Forward View for Mental Health Services

  • Developing links and building relationships with providers, CCGs and the EMHWB Transformation Board across Lancashire & South Cumbria to support the implementation of their Local Transformation Plans.

Children & Young People with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) - Our work programme for 2016-17 has a number of activities, including:

  • Develop recommendations for a Neuro pathway building on the review of the ASD pathway in 15/16

Children & Young People with Long Term Conditions and supporting them through Transition - Our work programme for 2016-17 has a number of activities, including:

  • Improving outcomes for children and adolescents with long term conditions including transition through the completion of a North West Coast scoping exercise.

  • Following the completion and analysis phase of this exercise the SCN plan to hold a Paediatric Long Term Conditions event in the Autumn of 2016 to feedback the results of this exercise and suggest recommendations to both commissioners and providers.

  • The North West Coast SCN will continue to promote the Transition Toolkit developed by Yorkshire & the Humber SCN in 2016. This tool is an excellent resource for both commissioners and providers of care and aims to support the transition process regardless of the young person’s condition.

Improving acute medical and surgical paediatric care - Our work programme for 2016-17 has a number of activities, including:

  • To ensure the results of the Cheshire & Merseyside self-assessment inform the work programme of the Cheshire & Merseyside Partnership for Women & Children (Vanguard) via the paediatric network group.

  • Extend the self-assessment exercise to include the provider organisations across Lancashire & South Cumbria.
