Meet the Network Team

Kathy_Collins.jpgKathy Collins, Senior Clinical Network Manager


Kathy has worked for the NHS for over 30 years with a clinical background in nursing and held a number of nurse manager roles in specialist palliative care, gastroenterology and infectious diseases, before moving into general hospital management.  Kathy originally joined the Cancer Clinical Network through the National Cancer Collaborative Service Improvement Programme in 2001 as a Service Improvement Lead and then joined the general management team specialising in palliative and end of life care.

Outside of work, Kathy is actively involved in the local community volunteering as a School Governor, Secretary to the local Parish St Vincent de Paul society conference, is a Eucharistic minister and is a member of her church bereavement support team. Other interests include cooking and home furnishings, singing in the church choir and she is currently studying part time training as a counsellor.

Vicki is the Network Quality Improvement Coordinator for Cancer and End of Life. Her work in Cancer sees her co-ordinating meetings and education events for 21 biological tumour sites across the four Trusts in the Lancashire & South Cumbria Region. She also supports the Masterclass Series of events that are run in collaboration with Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.  Vicki also co-ordinates and supports the Hospital Transform Group improvement projects, in Palliative & End of Life Care for the Cheshire and Mersey footprint.

Prior to joining the SCN, she worked for the Lancashire Workforce Development Partnership as Project Officer, working on projects around Care Home Management, Dementia Care and CQC Inspection. She has also worked for the University of Manchester as Training & Development Programme Co-ordinator at the Centre for Educational Leadership which entailed designing and delivering leadership training for middle managers throughout educational establishments in the North West (Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Mersey, Lancashire and Cumbria).

Vicki is also a Trained Forensic Scientist, specialising in genetics, sings in a wedding band, is a dance teacher of a children's group, trumpet player and mother to an energetic pre-schooler!!

Kath is Network Quality Improvment Coordinator in the Palliative and End of Life Care Network. She has worked in the NHS for over 25 years, previously as a Medical Secretary in a large NHS Trust supporting the Gastroenterology and Oncological Breast Surgery teams before moving on to work at St Rocco's Hospice with the Palliative Care Team. This then led to a move to the Network's palliative and end of life team. Kath supports the Education work programme around MPET evaluations and the Audit Sub Group's work on Clinical Standards and Guidelines.

Outside work Kath has a passion for interior design and upcycling furniture as well as walking two energetic dogs and, on occasion, two equally energetic grandchildren!
