Greater Manchester Lancs & South Cumbria Senate

What can you gain as a member of the NW Senates Council?

8th August 2017

Ivan_Benett_pic.jpgYou may have heard we’re looking for clinicians to join our Senates Council. Why join?

If you’ve wondered what’s in it for you (apart from being part of an important multi-professional team of clinicians, leading and managing our work) here’s what Dr Ivan Benett has to say about the role.

"Being a member of the Senate has provided me with insights about the health system that are wide-ranging and have informed my role both as a GP and in my commissioning roles.

“There is a unique opportunity to meet and work with colleagues from other branches of the NHS, Social Care and the voluntary sector.

“There is also a real opportunity to influence the development of NHS services by contributions to reviews of service changes from around the country, as well as within our region.

“We meet professionals from other Senates and frequently hear from national figures about national policy and initiatives.

“I would recommend any young aspiring clinician looking to broaden their experience in the NHS, to consider application to join the Senate. It's hard work, but it's also fun"
