Dr Rahul Thakur appointed as LSC Diabetes Clinical Lead

Dr_Rahul_Thakur_video_pic.pngThe Diabetes team are delighted to welcome Dr Rahul Thakur as our new clinical lead for Diabetes in Lancashire and South Cumbria. He will be working closely with our North West Coast clinical Lead for Diabetes, Professor Aftab Ahmad.

Dr Thakur, a GP with special interest in Diabetes in East Lancashire, is also Diabetes Clinical Lead for the Lancashire and South Cumbria Diabetes Prevention Programme and for East Lancashire CCG.

Earlier this year he was shortlisted, along with nurse Cheryl Golding, for a prestigious national award for their work for diabetes patients. His practice in East Lancashire has been successfully using social media to benefit their patients for a while now, having set up a North West Diabetes Patient Group on Facebook to share learning and experiences: Find out more in his video interview

He also set up a WhatsApp group to enable 120 clinicians to keep in regular contact with each other and to provide and benefit from educational opportunities and peer support. Find out more here and here.
