Communication skills training programme

Cheshire and Merseyside SCN is pleased to offer this part-funded three tier communications skills training programme, in association with the Marie Curie Palliative Care Institute Liverpool, Queenscourt Hospice and Wirral and Cheshire education providers. 

The training programme consists of three different levels and offers a range of dates in Wirral, Liverpool and Southport during 2015-17.

Level 1: Core training. A half-day course aimed at nurses, HCAs and AHPs which develops the necessary skills to support patients and families by communicating with honesty and compassion and to recognise emotional distress. 30 participants per course.

Level 2: Intermediate. A one-day course aimed at junior doctors, nurses, HCAs and AHPs. Builds knowledge and skills to enable staff to assess informational and emotional needs and to respond effectively. 20 participants per course.

Level 3: Advanced training. A two-day advanced communication skills training course which uses the model of training developed by the National Cancer Action Team (Connected). Particularly appropriate for any experienced health or social care professional who is involved in complex communication with patients or their families. 10 participants per course.
