Time to Talk Day - 7th February 2019

12th February 2019

Time_to_Talk_2019_VH.jpgOn 7th February, we held two events for colleagues as part of Time to Talk Day. Colleagues at Vanguard House and Preston Business Centre were encouraged to take time away from their desks and busy workloads to meet up for a cuppa, biscuit and chat.

Our mental health first aiders were on hand at the events and brought useful campaign resources and information to help raise awareness of why it’s so important for all of us to speak more openly about mental health and break down barriers.

We also took to social media to follow the Time to Talk conversation, share the important campaign messages and signpost people to further support. It was great to see so many people joining in - and to see how more and more people are taking time out to talk openly about mental health.Daniel_Time_To_Talk.jpg

Here’s what some of our colleagues had to say:

“It was thought provoking. It has made me think that mental health affects us all, and we should look out for one another. We have used the conversation starter today in the office and asked one another what we do to relax. It takes nothing to check that someone is ok.” Julie

“I thought yesterday was great. It was really good to take time out from the everyday. I felt like I learnt a lot about how my colleagues are doing. We should do it every week.Kirsty

“The session was valuable because it was time away from our busy jobs to relax and have a cuppa. Providing the resources, such as the statistics was interesting. I had thought that the stigma was less now but actually the stats don’t prove that - 90% of people with mental health issues feel stigmatised and 86% feel discriminated against. I was shocked to discover that this is still an issue in this day and age. I do feel, in our workplace, that people are encouraged to talk to each other.” Kath
