World Diabetes Day – championing the role of the family

19th November 2018

Diabetes_concerns_every_family.jpgThis year, the World Diabetes Day campaign aimed in particular to raise awareness of the impact diabetes has on the family and promoting the role of the family in the management, care, prevention and education of the condition.

In Lancashire, the Diabetes UK ‘Know Your Risk’ team were on the Big Bus in St John’s Square, Blackpool on 12th and 16th November (to also coincide with Self-Care Week). They engaged with the public to discover their risk of developing type 2 diabetes over the next 10 years, and provided information on ways to reduce their risk, signposting them to useful resources.

The Lancashire Care FT DESMOND diabetes type 2 structured education team were also on the Big Bus on World Diabetes Day itself to talk to the public about their type 2 diabetes education programme and its benefits.
